Bondy Jimbocho: Tokyo’s Legendary European-Style Curry You Can’t Miss

Bondy Jimbocho

Tokyo is home to countless renowned curry spots. During my recent business trip to the city, I made sure to carve out some time to visit one of them.

The place I chose this time was Bondy, a European-style curry restaurant located in Jimbocho, Tokyo’s famous bookstore district.

At 1,480 yen per dish (as of 2014), it might seem a bit pricey for curry—but the deep, rich flavor was absolutely worth it. Highly recommended!

Bondy: A Top-Rated Curry Spot in Jimbocho’s Bookstore District

Using a map, I arrived at the location where Bondy’s Jimbocho main store was supposed to be.

It seemed to be here, but even after going up to the second floor, it was just another bookstore—so I couldn’t find the entrance at first.

Climbing to the second floor, the katakana for “Bondy” reassured me I had the right location.

It was past 2:00 PM on a weekday, so luckily there was no line. But during lunch, dinner, or weekends, you can expect long waits—come prepared!

Inside, there are a few counter seats and several tables. The décor resembles a cozy upscale café, possibly to reflect the European style.
