The photo at the top shows the restaurant’s signature “Yamasho Nabe”.
It’s rare to find a hotpot dish that looks this beautiful.
And let me tell you — it tastes just as amazing as it looks!
Of course, their offal hotpot is fantastic too, and the a la carte menu is also great.
I heard they even have a branch in Ningyocho, Tokyo.
Whether you’re in Fukuoka or Tokyo, Yamasho is a must-try!
Yamasho: A Famous Offal Hotpot Restaurant in Tenjin-Minami
Yamasho is located in the Haruyoshi district, just south of Tenjin in Fukuoka.
It’s about a 3-minute walk from Tenjin-Minami Station.
We started off, of course, with a toast of beer!
The bubbles were perfectly fine and frothy — just right.
Before the hotpot, we had a beautifully arranged sashimi platter.
So plump and fresh — insanely good! What a luxurious appetizer.
They also serve Yukhoe (Korean-style beef tartare)!
Will raw meat become a thing of the past…? That would be a shame — it’s so delicious.
Next, grilled Iberico pork jowl seasoned with salt!
It carried the premium “Bellota” label, which, upon checking, means the pigs were raised on a diet mainly of acorns — the highest grade.
Hard to believe you can get that at a hotpot restaurant!

And then, the Yamasho Nabe finally arrived — a true work of art.
Pork and napa cabbage layered beautifully to look like a blooming flower.

Dip it in their special ponzu sauce — absolutely delicious!
The pork is rich and fatty, but the vegetables and ponzu keep it light and refreshing.
To finish, we made rice porridge using the umami-rich broth of pork and vegetables — simply heavenly.

From there, we moved on to the offal hotpot.
Another indulgence — but totally worth it.
Both hotpots were just 1,050 yen per person, which is very reasonable.

The cabbage and garlic chives softened just enough — it was ready to eat.
The rich, fatty flavor of the offal explodes in your mouth with the savory soy-based broth — absolutely incredible.
And of course, we closed the meal with champon noodles.

Final Thoughts
Fukuoka has no shortage of great offal hotpot restaurants, but this place is definitely one of the top recommendations.
The Yamasho Nabe is also incredible.
I’ve also visited the Tokyo Ningyocho branch before — it tasted very close to what I had in Fukuoka and was delicious.
